Rebuild Eindhoven's old town hall

In 1967, the town hall dating from 1869 was demolished, much to the frustration of many Eindhoven residents, to make way for a road that was never built. Many people still regret its loss today. The building was of great cultural and historical value. We therefore advocate reconstructing the building as a tribute to the past and an enrichment of the city.
Petition
We
residents of Eindhoven and those with an interest in culture and history,
establish that:
- city councillors made several attempts from the early 1960s onward to persuade the municipal government to reconsider the demolition of the town hall;
- many Eindhoven residents protested at the time;
- a municipal proposal for reconstruction was submitted in September 1992;
- an online initiative was launched in January 2010;
- the absence of the old town hall is still regarded by many Eindhoven residents as a great loss,
and request
- active consideration of the reconstruction of the exterior of the old town hall;
- a feasibility study into reconstructing the building at its current location at Rechtestraat 24-28;
- openness to finding a property developer with both the resources and the passion to preserve our historical identity.
